Kidblog vs. Blogger

Just when you think it’s safe to out into the blogosphere…
There’s another blogging tool!

For the last several years FCPS TRTs have been working with “Drupal” to support teacher blogs, and the Google tool “Blogger” for creating interactive blogs to which teachers can post and students can submit comments.  Now, a new player is on the scene, Kidblog.org

Kidblog.org, like Blogger, is free and completely devoid of advertisements.  Teachers can quickly create a blog using the easy templates, and even create student accounts WITHOUT needing an email!  This means that unlike Blogger, Kidblog.org allows students to comment and POST directly to the class blog or their own.

So what’s the answer?  That’s up to you.  Are you looking for a simple blog that allows you post content and questions for your students to access and comment?  Blogger may be best for you.  If you would like to allow your students more control and the ability to post, then Kidblog.org is your best choice.

For more information about setting up a blog with kidblog.org click here to see the tutorial made by FCPS TRT Amy Boehman.
